To share with my blog readers of how Malaysian people react or cope with the Covid 19 attack. It was started from the Movement Control order (Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan) announcement by our Prime Minister Ts Muhyiddin Yassin (2020 - Current) on 16th Mar 2020 at 2000 (10.00 pm)
The key point from the PM announcement

I woke up in the morning (4.00am). While writing this post and notice no sound of Quran reading from the mosque speaker as usual when the dawn nearly kicks in. I don't know what will happen today. For me, my company had imposed working from home memo during the movement control order period.

In the evening before the announcement, a panic buying around Klang Valley areas has occurred as there are rumors spread out that there will be some announcement in the night by the Prime Minister and critical situation facing by KKM of possible country lockdown by the Ministry of Health.
React to the spread rumors, the Mall has been attacked in the morning and afternoon for panic buying. All the necessities such as chicken, meat, fish, all type onions, instant noodles, frozen food are all out of stock. I already planned with my wife to go to Tesco Mall in the night to buy those groceries and left nothing. We were lucky that formula milk and diapers are still available in the market and it matters to us.

Two deaths were recorded as the 178th and 358th cases were reported at the CPRC today, March 17.
1. The case of 178 men aged 34 years old who attended a tabligh rally in Sri Petaling. He was diagnosed on March 5 & was treated at Permai Hospital on March 12 after a positive COVID-19. His condition deteriorated and was admitted to the ICU. He was pronounced dead today.
2. The 358th case of a 60-year-old local man has a chronic history. Started symptoms on March 7 and treated Hosp. Sarawak General on March 14. Health began to decline and was admitted to the ICU. He was pronounced dead on March 17.
"Malaysia confirms first COVID-19 death, the victim is a pastor from Sarawak"
It was sad news because it's the first death recorded in Malaysia due to Covid-19 viruses.
On the other hand, they are people planning to move out of the cities and went to their village due to Movement Control Order and long holiday season. For my thinking, it wasn't appropriate to react that way. It should be when the outbreaks happened, you should stay if you are in the outbreak area and don't go out.
Later from the announcement from the IGP Tan Sri Hamid Bador imposed inter-state notice rule for people who want to travel within country for i.e Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, to Johor, to Kelantan and etc. In this rule, you have to notify the police if you want to travel inter-state during the Movement Control Order period by fill-up the form and submit to the nearest police station.
Inter-state Travelling form |
Suddenly, the crowd and the large gathering at the police station to fill-up the form for interstate traveling. It was an unexpected situation having a crowd at the police station during the Covid-19 attacked.
Shocked by having the large crowd at the police station, the cops suspend inter state notice - announce by IGP Ts Hamid Bador
A scary moment where one lady suddenly falls down at Sunway area (Mall area). in my opinion, the victim symptom was due to covid-19. Not sure what actually happened as there is no official news regarding this matter. From the video, she was wearing a mask and lying on the ground while on the table, there are handbag and plastic bags believed some groceries items belong to the ladies.
It was a guy attending to her (not touching her) checked her temperature in distance from the body. the temperature measurement around 27 degrees. I think reading is not accurate as the reader does not touch the skin.
